A margarita never looked and tasted more refreshing. This watermelon version of the popular tequila cocktail combines earthy and refreshing flavours finished off with a touch of chilli spice. While it may not be commonplace to add chilli into your cocktails, I just found that it paired so well to the fresh flavours of the freshly made watermelon juice. An ideal drink for hot summer days, the spice on the tip of your tongue as you sip adds excitement to the experienced and is quickly extinguished by the cooling flavours that follow. Easy to make at home and favourite recipe of ours, it's one to impress your friends.
Watermelon Margarita
- 60ml Reposado Tequila
- 45ml Watermelon Juice
- 30ml Lime Juice
- 20ml Agave Syrup
Chilli Salt Garnish
- Salt
- Paprika Powder
Create the chilli salt garnish first by combining equal parts salt and paprika powder. Place the chilli salt on a small plate. Slice a lime and drag across the rim of a glass expressing the juice. Take the glass and roll it in the salt so the lime juice picks up the chilli salt. Add ice.
Combine cocktail ingredients in a shaker filled with ice and shake. Strain into the glass over ice and garnish with a slice of watermelon and mint. Enjoy.
