Beer cocktails are few and far between in my opinion. So when Beervana Indonesia asked me for a recipe I had to take a popular cocktail route and twist the recipe with beer.

The Pond Water Paloma is a grapefruit inspired beer cocktail combining the Mexican Paloma with American Pale Ale beer. A simple and relatively easy cocktail to put together, the inclusion of grapefruit syrup instead of fresh grapefruits is due to the scarcity of the citrus fruit. However the flavors combined with the tequila and beer create a deliciously refreshing drink. What really tops off the cocktail is the chili salt rim which gives the drink a spicy edge (of course it’s optional).
Try out the cocktail and tell me what you think!
Pond Water Paloma
• 120ml Deschutes Mirror Pond Pale Ale
• 60ml Reposado Tequila
• 30ml Giffard Pamplemousse Sirop
• 20ml Lime Juice
In a shaker, combine the tequila, grapefruit syrup, and lime juice with ice and shake. Garnish a Teku beer glass with lime juice and chili salt along the rim. Add ice to the glass. Strain out the ingredients of the shaker into the glass. Top off with the Deschutes Mirror Pond Pale Ale. Add a lime wedge garnish to the rim of the glass. Enjoy!
