Margarita

No Tequila cocktail is more well known than the Margarita, which for many usually spell the beginning of a Mexican meal or a wild night out.

Thought to be invented in 1948 in Acapulco, Mexico, when a Dallas socialite combined blanco tequila with Cointreau and lime juice for her guests. The Margarita combines tequila, lime, and orange liqueur served with a rim of salt for extra flavor. This recipe has earned its way into the classic halls of star cocktails.

Variations to the classic recipe have also developed over the years with recipes calling for various types of orange liqueur, mixing methods of blended or frozen, the inclusion of agave as is found in the Tommy’s Margarita, and even surprisingly a debate of salt or no salt. What is permanent and essential in any recipe is the use of 100% Blue Agave Tequila, to ensure you are getting the best quality spirit in your drink.

This recipe of mine is a mix between a classic and a Tommy’s, which calls for a combination of agave and orange liqueur, and a whole lot of salt on the rim!

Margarita

  • 60ml Blanco Tequila

  • 30ml Lime Juice

  • 10ml Orange Liqueur

  • 10ml Agave Syrup

Combine cocktail ingredients in a shaker filled with ice and shake. Strain into the glass over ice and garnish with a slice of watermelon and mint. Enjoy.
